Artist Sandra Iafrate works with a bold color palette creating moving compositions in her reflections of nature, floral and figurative work. Her work is a mix of classical and contemporary bringing a nostalgic feel to her fresh colorful work. Her method is diverse including oil, acrylic, drawing mediums such as charcoal and pencil and occasionally mixed media collage.
Sandra Iafrate also paints scenes of iconic landscape views which include wildflowers, foliage, lakes and rivers and protected lands and species. Her paintings are created with fluid oil paint resulting in atmospheric light and dreamy brushwork.
“I like to use unconventional tools such as sponges, rags and scraping tools with a lot of oil which creates such a dreamy effect. It gets very messy but the process is fun and is my way of exploring with paint while creating these beautiful utopian places. I want to make paintings so that the viewer can imagine stepping into them, momentarily going for a walk.”
